The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is one of Alaska’s iconic winter events, an annual long-distance sled dog race stretching from Anchorage to Nome for an approximate 1,000-mile journey through Alaska. The excitement starts in Anchorage on March 7, 2026.

The Ceremonial Start of the 54th Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race® will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in downtown Anchorage and can be viewed from The Wildbirch Hotel.
